General information
Council’s Strategic Plan outlines Council’s key strategic goals, objectives and proposed strategies for the coming years.
It does not include everything Mid Murray does, but it helps focus Council on those areas that need attention and to address emerging community needs and trends. It is also a key element in setting the direction of Mid Murray.
To ensure the interests of the community are taken into consideration as part of its development, Council is currently undertaking community consultation on the Strategic Plan.
Rates go much further than just picking up waste and fixing roads, and Mid Murray would like to hear what the community believes is important for Council to focus on in the future.
To develop its new Strategic Plan, from 8 January 2024 through to 23 February 2024, Council will be facilitating community discussions on ‘imagining the future of Mid Murray’.
Focus areas for the Draft Plan fall into five areas including environment, growth, lifestyle, community and business.
The Draft Plan outlines Council’s role in delivering the Key Activities and Key Projects including:
L = Lead
This is where Council would take the lead to deliver the key activities and key projects, for example Council’s Disability Action Implementation Plan
P = Partner
Council would partner with another group/organisation/government department to deliver the key activities and key projects, for example partnering with the South Australian Tourism Commission to drive tourism visitation to the region
A = Advocate
Council would advocate external organisations to deliver key activities and key projects, for example the State and Federal Government’s on a project like the Truro Freight Route.
S = Support
Council would play a supporting role only in the delivery of the key activities and key projects, for example supporting an external organisation to deliver a project that benefits the community, for example the Mid Murray Our Town project.
D = Deliver
Council would fund and deliver the key activities and key projects, for example Waste transfer stations.
C = Control
Council is responsible and controls the delivery of the key activities and key projects, such as the Open Space Management Plan.
