Liquor Licensing

When you are organising a party where an existing liquor licence is held or an event where alcohol is sold you will need to lodge a limited liquor licence with the Liquor and Gambling Commission. These applications must be submitted to the Commission at least 14 days prior to the event. Council approval will be required before the Liquor and Gambling Commission issue their approval for all licence applications.

To receive Council approval you will need to provide the following details:

  • Date
  • Name of the event
  • The times alcohol will be served eg begin at 8.00 pm and finish at 12.00 midnight
  • The location
  • The responsible person
  • Plan of the licensed area

NOTE - you can provide Council with a copy of the Liquor and Gambling application form as this has all the details on it.

This information needs to be provided to Council in writing at least 14 days prior to the event. You can drop this information off to any one of our council offices - Morgan, Mannum or Cambrai or email it to postbox@mid-murray.sa.gov.au

Planning to change your area or hours for the responsible service of alcohol or entertainment area?

Council approval will also be required for a new premise or changes to an existing licensed or entertainment area before the Liquor and Gambling Commission issue their approval. You will need to provide to Council a copy of the following:

  • Location of the premise
  • Extended trading hours or entertainment areas
  • A plan of the premise showing the current and proposed licensed and entertainment areas.

Or alternatively a copy of the application form submitted to the Liquor and Gambling Commission and plan of the premise with the licensed and entertainment areas marked.
