Palmer Wind Farm

Trustpower Australia Holdings Pty Ltd lodged Development Application 711/072/14 with Mid Murray Council to develop the Palmer Wind Farm. The project includes the following elements:

Wind farm comprising up to 114 wind turbines up to a maximum height of 165 metres, up to 7 meteorological masts, a substation, an operations and maintenance facility, temporary construction compounds, turbine laydown and hardstand areas, access tracks and road upgrades, associated earthworks, approximately 72 kilometres of underground cabling and 33kV transmission lines, approximately 27 kilometres of overhead 33kV transmission lines and 10 kilometres of overhead 275kV transmission lines, and up to 3 temporary concrete batching plants.

The project also includes staged approval to substantially commence the development within 5 years and complete it within 8 years.

The application received Development Plan Consent at the 18 December 2015 meeting of the independent Development Assessment Panel.

The Environment, Resources and Development Court (ERD Court) finalised and delivered its decision on the matter with a judgment and formal orders on 9 March 2018, which is now available to the public.  The judgment can be viewed at http://www8.austlii.edu.au/cgi-bin/viewdoc/au/cases/sa/SAERDC/2018/15.html.

The decision of the ERD Court has since been appealed to the Full Court of the Supreme Court and as such, the matter remains ongoing.  No on site works can or will commence until the matter has been resolved.
