Marine Facilities

Council maintains 34 Boat Ramps including pontoons at various locations, 4 jetties/boardwalks and 7 wharves, with the most significant being the Morgan Wharf which has a rich history dating back to the early steam driven paddle boat days.  An essential part of the recreational facilities provided and maintained by Council are boat ramp/launch areas including Caloote, Cadell, Blanchetown, Morgan, Mannum and Swan Reach.

Boat Ramps -  Marine budget fully allocated through works undertaken. Any other works will require a reallocation from other budget lines.

Boat ramps located within the Mid Murray Council region are in the below list, any not included are either closed, informal, under care and control of a private entity or privately owned and are not maintained by Council.

Wharves - The wharves and other timber made facilities on the river are due for re-oiling. This matter cannot be accommodated for in the 2023/24 budget and will remain on hold until funding can be allocated. The Mannum Wharf also requires some additional maintenance which will also be placed on hold until further budget allocations.

River Murray Flood Warning System - following a River Murray Flood Warning Implementation Committee Meeting feedback was requested from Berri Barmera Council (BBC) and Mid Murray Council (MMC) as to a suitable name for the system. Considering feedback from BBC and what the community would relate to, MMC agreed a suitable name for the system would be “Flood Warning for the River Murray in SA”. This feedback was provided to BBC to be taken to the next committee meeting.
