Congratulations to our Australia Day Award winners - pictured below with Mayor Burgess.
Citizen of the Year Chris Tugwell, was instrumental in helping Mid Murray secure Australia’s first internationally-recognised Dark Sky Reserve – an achievement that has put the region on the map for astronomers, astro-photographers and keen stargazers around the world.
Young Citizen of the Year Ella Deramore-Denver received her award for the brave rescue of her friend and rowing partner and for her rowing success.
The Community Event of the Year was awarded to the Mannum Hot Rod Day event, raising over $6,000 for the Mannum Hospital Auxiliary and bringing an estimated 2,500 people to the town at their event held in March 2020. Leon Warhurst collected the award on behalf of the Mannum Hospital Auxiliary.
