Asbestos

Need Information on Asbestos?

Asbestos.sa.gov.au is the new home of advice for South Australians concerned about asbestos in their homes or workplaces.

The asbestos.sa.gov.au website is the outcome of collaboration between SafeWork SA, SA Health, the Environment Protection Authority, the Local Government Association, Housing SA and the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure.  Each agency plays an important role in managing the risks of exposure and providing information and advice to South Australians about asbestos.

Check out the website for information on finding and identifying asbestos, what to do with it, how to remove it and where to put it for residential settings and workplaces.

Where can I dispose of Asbestos?

Asbestos must be correctly wrapped in 200-micron plastic before you dispose of it.  There are guidelines for the removal, transport and disposal of waste containing asbestos.  Information and list of licensed disposal sites can be found on the Environment Protection Authority website at http://www.epa.sa.gov.au/households/waste_and_recycling/asbestos/where_can_i_dispose_of_asbestos.
